Sound Design

Learning Path

What does the program include?

This structured program takes you through every essential skill needed for professional sound design. Each stage builds on the previous one.

You'll work with industry-standard tools and real-world scenarios. The approach is practical from day one.

  • Hands-on recording sessions with multiple microphone techniques
  • Synthesis fundamentals and modular sound creation
  • Digital audio workstation workflows and signal routing
  • Sound library management and organization systems
  • Mixing and mastering for various delivery formats

Program duration varies by your pace. Most students complete the full curriculum in 16 to 24 weeks.

This stage covers acoustics, waveform properties, and frequency behavior. You'll understand how sound works before manipulating it.

  • Physics of sound waves and human hearing range
  • Digital audio basics: sample rate, bit depth, file formats
  • Introduction to DAW interface and project setup
  • Basic recording chain and signal flow

Learn field recording techniques and studio capture methods. You'll build your own sound library from scratch.

  • Microphone types and polar patterns
  • Environmental recording and noise management
  • Audio editing: cutting, fading, time-stretching
  • Organizing and tagging sound assets

Create original sounds using synthesizers and samplers. You'll design textures that don't exist in the natural world.

  • Subtractive, FM, and wavetable synthesis
  • Envelopes, LFOs, and modulation routing
  • Effects processing: reverb, delay, distortion
  • Layering and sound design strategies

Apply your skills to real projects. You'll work on film scenes, game prototypes, and interactive media.

  • Synchronizing audio to picture
  • Adaptive audio systems and middleware tools
  • Dialogue editing and restoration
  • Final mixing and delivery specifications
